Some Florida International football players thought that changing clothes in public was a good idea.
After a “beach workout” that eventually was a cookout to celebrate the last of preseason conditioning, some players changed clothes when using the public showers. Head coach Ron Turner released an official apology after the incident.
“Following the workout, some of our athletes went to rinse off at a designated public shower area and a few of them made a poor decision and changed their clothes in public,” Turner said in a statement. “I want to apologize to the community and anyone who was at the beach this morning for this unfortunate incident. We are committed to helping our student-athletes grow as gentlemen while preparing them for their careers. We are looking into this incident and, if appropriate, will take disciplinary action.”
Perhaps the players just figured that in a public shower anything goes, or maybe they thought it was a nude beach. Either way, they probably should have figured that public nudity wasn’t going to fly and should have kept covered up.
What’s more important in this story is how FIU players had a workout at the beach. Any football players suffering under the heavy humidity of July might start protesting to do offseason workouts down south.
