The New Jersey Devils were rocked earlier this season when Ilya Kovalchuk decided to abruptly retire, but they may have found a stop gap replacement. According to Czech news outlet iSport.cz, veteran free agent Jaromir Jagr is doing his due diligence in checking out the Devils and their facilities.
iSport.cz reports that Jagr will “personally inspect” the Devils’ home arena, the Prudential Center, at sometime this week as he considers joining the team.

New Jersey has the available cap space to make Jagr a respectable offer, so it will be interesting to see if anything comes of this “inspection”.
If Jagr does end up signing with the Devils, it will help take away some of the shock and sadness that has been floating around since Kovalchuk called it quits.
