The media has begun to vote for who they think will come out on top of every college football conference this season and the Big 12 was the latest conference to learn who many believe will come away with the title. Unlike the SEC, where Alabama is an overwhelming favorite, the Big 12 is up for grabs.
Oklahoma State topped the media poll by earning the most number of first-place votes by a significant margin, while their in-state rival Oklahoma came in second place. TCU earned the third-place spot and the Texas Longhorns came in at No. 4.
The only surprise is that Texas comes slotted in at No. 4 with all of the talent that they have returning, but the vote is so close and it is just an opinion. The Big 12 truly could be one of the most exciting races to keep an eye on this season.
Here is how the poll results came back, with the first-place votes in parenthesis:
- Oklahoma State (15) — 365 points
- Oklahoma (8) — 355
- TCU (9) — 347
- Texas (8) — 337
- Baylor (2) — 282
- Kansas State (1) — 240
- Texas Tech — 161
- West Virginia — 126
- Iowa State — 96
- Kansas — 56
