The Brooklyn Nets had a press conference yesterday to introduce their newest players: Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. And while Prokhorov was excited about the direction of the Nets, he wanted to take time out to extend a message to their cross-town rivals the New York Knicks and owner James Dolan.

“And I want to congratulate James Dolan. He’s watching us for the time being,” Prokhorov said, via the New York Daily News.

According to Prokhorov, the “basketball gods have smiled on the Nets” while the Knicks have had a relatively quiet offseason.

“It will be the great anticipation when the teams meet,” Prokhorov said.

James Dolan hasn’t responded yet. The biggest news involving him was that he considered getting rid of Iman Shumpert, before Stephen A. Smith told him he better not trade him.

But if the Nets, with new additions Pierce, Garnett and Terry, fail to live up to expectations and back their new owner’s mouth up it could spell trouble. Prokhorov already issued a ultimatum and said that he is a results oriented person.

“I have done what I can. Now I think it is high time for the team to do the rest,” he said.

“When I bought the team, I promised to create a championship contender, a team worthy of Brooklyn,” said Prokhorov. “I’ll be proud when we win the championship. I am not a man of procedure. I am a man of results.”
