For the 2nd game in a row, Oakland Athletics home run derby champion and young star Yoenis Cespedes was scratched from the lineup due to a sore left wrist.

Cespedes was taking batting practice before the game where he began feeling discomfort in his wrist. He was already penciled in on the lineup, but when he took his swings in the batting cage, the pain increased yesterday.

Manager Bob Melvin decided to pull Cespedes from the lineup to give him some time to let his wrist heal. In yesterdays game, the Athletics missed Cespedes as the Los Angeles Angels hit 3 solo home runs off starter A.J. Griffin as they lost 4-1.

The Athletics still hold a 2 game lead in the American West of the Texas Rangers who also lost, but I’m sure they want Yoenis in the lineup as soon as his wrist gets better. The home run derby champion could get back into the lineup tomorrow, if all goes well during batting practice.
