It is highly unlikely that another big name will be traded by the start of the season, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a few more transactions before the start of the 2013-14 NBA season. One of the names that is surfacing is a player that has not played in the NBA since being a second-round draft pick in 2009 before playing in PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban last season in Russia.
From Marc Stein of ESPN:
The Dallas Mavericks are in advanced discussions on a trade that would send former second-round pick Nick Calathes to the Memphis Grizzlies for future draft considerations, according to sources with knowledge of the deal…
Sources told ESPN.com that Dallas has since been in discussions with multiple teams on a Calathes trade, but is now on the verge of sending the pass-first point guard to the Grizzlies after Calathes established himself as one of the best floor generals in Europe last season.
Calathes still needs some time to be ready for the NBA game, but the fact that his name continues to surface in the NBA trade talks goes to show that his skill set is still intriguing at the highest level of the sport.
