While much of the attention in the world of MLB trade rumors if transfixed on Matt Garza of the Chicago Cubs, not many are focusing on the the impact his trade could have on other players.
For example, who are the players, willing or unwilling, that will be packaged with Garza and have to relocate their families?
One appears to be closer Kevin Gregg, although sounds more than happy to be potentially leaving Chicago according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Gregg has been solid for most of his time with the Cubs, but at 35 years of age it is easy to see why he would want to leave the sinking ship.
Contenders should have some interest in Gregg as a reliever. His ERA is up over seven in the past month, but that’s not a fair representation of what he is able to do with a full body of work.
If Gregg is not packaged with Garza, expect him to potentially be on the move anyway. The Cubs are rebuilding.
