Two former Olympic doubles teammates decided to settle their differences on the court during a break in their badminton match. Bodin Issara and Maneepong Jongjit are the two fighters that began jawing, before Issara chased Jongjit around the court.
During the chase, chairs were thrown and Jongjit was smashing Issara’s head with his racket (which resulted in a cut on Issara’s ear that would require stiches) before Jongjit was tripped up during a leap over to an adjacent court. As soon as Jongjit made it to the surface, Issara began to pummel him in a one-sided affair.
Issara’s team was disqualified from the match and Jongjit’s team was given the win, according to the Bangkok Post.
I have been in badminton for 58 years and never seen anything like this. It is very bad and causes damage to our reputation,” said Badminton Association of Thailand president Charoen Wattanasin.
Perhaps seeing this incident will make you think twice before you get in to a heated debate with your relatives during a badminton match at your picnic.
