The Golden State Warriors landed Andre Iguodala this summer, who will enter the team’s starting lineup this upcoming season. Everyone will obviously have to adjust and get used to new roles. Despite likely playing a backup role after starting 81 games in last year’s regular season, Harrison Barnes is not worried about how his role will change following the arrival of the athletic playmaker.
“My role will remain the same—do whatever it takes to win,” Barnes told Sporting News on Monday. “Whether it is starting, coming off the bench. There are plenty of minutes to be divided up among everybody. I just have to make sure I am ready.”
Now, there is still a chance that Iguodala could start at the shooting guard spot, which would allow Barnes to keep his starting spot, but he will clearly embrace whatever role his coaches want him to play and will not complain about it.
Bringing Barnes off the bench will also allow the team to continue experimenting with small lineups, occasionally putting Barnes at the power forward position.
