Minor league baseball team wears Santa Claus uniforms

Minor league baseball teams tend to go a bit over the top with their promotions and with good reason. It’s not easy to bring folks to the ballpark, especially as you climb down the league ranks.

One of the more popular Double-A teams, the New Britain Rock Cats are well aware of this and their marketing gimmicks are rivaled as some of the best in the junior circuit. So it makes complete sense that for a random July 22nd game, they’d bust out a Santa Claus uniform, right?

Taking on the Portland SeaDogs last evening, the Rock Cats (the Minnesota Twins Double-A affiliate) decided to celebrate Christmas in July by wearing uniforms that looked like Saint Nicholas’ suit, complete with the over-sized belt buckle.

Granted, it’s no hot dog jersey, but they’re still pretty awesome.

I wonder if when pitching changes were made, did any of the Rock Cats come out of the bullpen in a sleigh?
