While the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t exactly hid their desire to bring Francisco Rodriguez into their bullpens, it appears they have both emerged as the front runners for his services – at least from a desirability standpoint.
According to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick, both the Red Sox and Dodgers have been the most active in scouting K-Rod among the many teams that are putting in work.
#Redsox and #dodgers continue to keep the closest watch on K-Rod. Their scouts have been all over him this week in Milwaukee.
Many teams were apparently reluctant to take a chance on Rodriguez who was granted free agency by the Brewers at the end of last season. The Brewers in need of some bullpen help signed the longtime closer to a minor league deal and now stand in position to reap the rewards for their small investment.
There’s no word on what the Dodgers or Red Sox may be offering for Rodriguez at this point.
The Detroit Tigers were also mentioned to be heavily interested in K-Rod, but have recently backed off given the current stability of their bullpen.
