OSU football players make “reversing the male gaze” project (VIDEO)

For all of you out there that love college football but find it lacking when it comes to social commentary influenced by the works of Laura Mulvey, your prayers have been answered.

Ted Miller posted a link to this video project in his “Pac-12 Lunch Links” column on Tuesday. The five-minute film is shot by Oregon State University quarterback Sean Mannion and features lineman Josh Mitchell. (For some context, here’s Mulvey’s “Visual Pleasures in Narrative Cinema” from 1975. It’s light reading, trust me.)

I can’t wait to see what the Oregon Ducks do as a response. Perhaps De’Anthony Thomas will make a video about Judith Butler’s theories on gender performativity. I wait rapt.
