Fresh off of being amnestied by the World Champion Miami Heat, swingman Mike Miller didn’t have to wait long to grab employment for another NBA season. ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting the new destination for the sharp-shooter:

Miller had suitors across the league, most notably the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets, but in the end, he chose to go back to his longest-term NBA team with the Grizzlies. Miller spent six seasons with Memphis (from 2002 through 2008), and was a fan favorite while averaging double-figure point totals in each campaign.

The Heat were forced to amnesty Miller thanks to their ever-increasing luxury tax burden, but the 6-foot-8 swingman was vital to their run to the championship. While he averaged just 4.8 points per game during the regular season, the 33-year-old Miller exploded at times in the playoffs, including a crucial 8-point, 7-rebound performance in Game 6 of the NBA Finals against San Antonio.

Miller will never be more than a pure role player at this stage of his career, as injuries have zapped his athleticism and stability. However, he can still really shoot the ball (career 40.6% from three), and the Grizzlies have been in dire need of a wing shooter for a long time. I love the fit, and he will certainly help them right away.
