Veteran defensive end John Abraham is no longer a free agent. After parting ways with the Atlanta Falcons earlier in the offseason, the Arizona Cardinals have announced that they have agreed to a two-year contract with the seasoned pass rusher.
Abraham worked out with the Cardinals on Wednesday and a contract offer was on the table by that night and he didn’t need very long to accept the offer.
Even at 35 years old, Abraham is easily the team’s top pass rusher.
He is currently the active sack leader in the NFL with 122 career sacks.
The move comes just one day after the Cardinals signed another top available free agent — right tackle Eric Winston. The additions of Winston and Abraham provide Arizona with some quality veteran leadership and top level players that still have plenty of football left in the tank.
It will be interesting to see how the moves Arizona has made this offseason will transition to the field as they look to compete in a highly competitive NFC West.
