MLB trade rumors 2013: Texas Rangers interested in Chicago Cubs Alfonso Soriano

If you’re a right handed bat with some pop, there’s a good chance the Texas Rangers will have some interest in you.

So Alfonso Soriano, come on down – you’re the next hitter the Texas Rangers have apparent interest in.

Per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports:

Add Alfonso Soriano to list of RH hitters #Rangers are considering. However, one source described a deal for him with #Cubs as “unlikely.”

Soriano has a pretty large no-trade list though there’s no word if the Rangers are on it or not.

Recently, the Cubs sat down with Soriano to go over some potential destinations which may have lead to the elevated interest from the Rangers.

Their desire for a right handed bat could be stemming from the nearly inevitable fallout from the Biogenesis scandal which has implicated current Ranger Nelson Cruz. Fearing a suspension is looming, the Rangers certainly don’t want to go into the postseason without a big bat which has put added emphasis on completing a deal for a power bat.
