Derek Fisher intends to retire after 2013-2014 season

A league source has told ESPN Los Angeles that Derek Fisher intends to retire after the 2013-2014 season.

Fisher, 38 years old, signed a 1 year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. He’ll earn $1.4 million with what could be his final contract of his career, at least as a player. Fisher could serve as a player/coach this season, providing the veteran leadership skills he has.

Derek Fisher aka Pres, has always been that player who gave pep talks too his team, no matter where they were in a game. Honestly, he is one of my favorite Los Angeles Lakers/players of all time. That may be crazy, he wasn’t that premiere point guard, but he was a guy who came through when it was needed.

In his possible final year, he should  be giving out pointers to Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson. Who wouldn’t listen to a 5x NBA champion? I was a bummed when the Lakers traded him, but remain a fan of his til this day.

He should get a standing ovation once again, when the Thunder make their way back to the Staples Center to play the Lakers.
