MLB trade rumors 2013: Alfonso Soriano returning to New York Yankees


Chicago Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano was pulled from the team’s line up on Thursday night in a sign that all but assured he would be traded or that a deal had already been completed. After the team’s 3-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix, Soriano reportedly informed his teammates of the trade and said his goodbyes as he prepared to re-join the New York Yankees.

The news came from Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago:

Soriano played for the Yankees from 1999-2003 and he will now return to provide a boost to their line up after waving his no-trade clause.

In what looks to be confirmation of Soriano’s departure, Cubs outfielder Julio Borbon tweeted out his own goodbyes:
