Montee Ball expected to win Denver Broncos starting RB job
By Mike Dyce
The Denver Broncos let Willis McGahee leave this offseason and drafted University of Wisconsin stand out Montee Ball. That has left the starting running back position up for grabs, but it isn’t guaranteed that Ball is the lock to win the job.
The other candidate is second year running back Ronnie Hillman who has been fairly vocal about his desire to win the job this offseason.
“Come the opener, I want to be the guy back there,” Hillman said. “I can’t lie. I want it to be me and I’m pushing to be that guy.”
Ball is the higher draft pick, but Hillman reiterated that it all comes down to producing.
“We’re all just in there doing our thing,” Hillman said. “Everybody wants to play and I think all of us feel like we can play. I know it’s about production, that I have to produce to be in there. That’s how they’ll decide: who’s producing.”
Unfortunately SI and MMQB writer Peter King thinks that it is Montee Ball who will eventually win the starting job in Denver.
