Julio Teheran, Braves shut out Cardinals 2-0


Atlanta Braves right hander Julio Teheran threw 7 brilliant shut out innings today in a 2-0 shut out win against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Teheran only gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6 batters. He could have gone deeper in the game but Braves skipper Fredi Gonzalez pulled him in the bottom of the second to try to spark his offense. The 22 year old pitcher has an 3.07 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 106/26 K/BB in 126 innings this season.

His next start  comes against the Colorado Rockies in Atlanta.

Opposing pitcher Joe Kelly tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings, working around 7 hits, 3 walks. It was Ryan Choate and Trevor Rosenthal who blew it in the bottom of the 8th inning. Kelly carries a 3.44 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Chris Kimbrel picked up his 30th save of the season. Kimbrel retired the top of the St. Louis batting order which was Matt Carpenter, Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday, in order at the top of the 9th. The right hander has an amazing ERA of 1.37, 0.97 WHIP and 62/15 K/BB ratio in 39 1/3 total frames this season.
