MLB trade rumors 2013: San Diego Padres likely to trade Luke Gregerson; Detroit Tigers possible destination?

While the San Diego Padres are keen on keeping a handful of players like Chase Headley, Carlos Quentin and Huston Street, the same can’t be said for setup man Luke Gregerson.

According to Jon Heyman, the Friars are receiving heavy interest in the bullpen arm and are likely to move him in the coming days.

Per CBS Sports:

Padres stars Chase Headley, Carlos Quentin and Huston Street seem likely to stay in San Diego, but with major interest in setup-man extraordinaire Luke Gregerson as the deadline approaches, he seems to have a good chance to be dealt.

Heyman hints that the Detroit Tigers may be in the lead for his services, though, they’ll face competition:

The Tigers, who’ve had bullpen questions most of the year, are known to have Gregerson on their radar, and two or three more teams are said to be in heavy pursuit of the righthander who’s 4-5 with a 2.98 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Gregerson isn’t a free agent until after 2015, giving him significant value.
