Filled with an expensive, underperforming roster the Chicago White Sox are open to trading just about anybody who they receive a call on. One such name who continues to swirl in trade rumors is that of outfielder Alex Rios, who the Texas Rangers have heavy interest in.
However, the Sox aren’t in a fire sale mode and wont be giving Rios away for free, which has lead to the Rangers apparently looking elsewhere – this according to CBS’ Jon Heyman:
Alex Rios currently appears to top the Rangers’ long list of outfield targets. But one person with knowledge of their talks cautions that the sides are “not close” and the Rangers will likely wait to see if any even bigger hitters shake free, such as Giancarlo Stanton, Michael Cuddyer, Jose Bautista or Hunter Pence.
Of course, outside of Cuddyer (maybe) and Pence (unlikely), none of those players are really available or affordable which makes Rios the most likely of the named candidates to be traded.
