The Miami Heat have expressed interest in point guard Mo Williams, hoping the relationship between he and former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James would be enough to bring the former Alabama talent to South Beach.
And it might – assuming Williams doesn’t get a better offer elsewhere.
Williams, who spent last season with the Utah Jazz has stated that he wants to either get paid or wants to be a starter, something he’s been struggling to find on the open market. The Jazz have expressed interest in having Williams return but the money nor playing time have been to Williams’ liking and it appears that the former second round pick may reunite with LeBron in Miami if he doesn’t get a better offer in the near future.
Per the Miami Herald:
The Heat is among teams that has shown some interest in free agent point guard Mo Williams. And Williams is said to have interest in Miami if he doesn’t get an offer higher than the minimum.
If Williams does decide on the Heat, it’s likely he would play a backup role to Mario Chalmers.
