The Gareth Bale saga continues to heat up after the latest report from Spanish media outlet Marca. Despite Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas saying that talks with the Tottenham star are “ongoing”, Marca is reporting that Bale is demanding a move to Real Madrid because of false promises from his current club.
Tottenham has been trying hard to keep Bale at White Hart Lane, but if the conversation that Bale and Tottenham’s Chairman Daniel Levy reportedly had recently is true, then things could get ugly.
“You made me a promise. You promised me if we didn’t qualify for the Champions League and a good offer turned up you’d listen to it,” Bale told Levy, according to the most recent Marca report. “Well that offer has arrived and I want to play for Real Madrid. So keep your word and negotiate. I’m not interested in Manchester United or any other club. I only want to play for Real Madrid.“
Who knows exactly how much truth is behind the latest rumors, but it is fair to strongly consider them when you remember how many links have been between Bale and the Spanish side in the past.
Tottenham may want to keep Bale, but it looks like disgruntled star could be making his biggest push to leave White Hart Lane to date.
