Colorado Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez has been dealing with injuries on and off this season, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at the stat sheet. The All-Star has been absolutely raking the ball, hitting .297 with 26 home runs, 67 RBI and has even added 19 stolen bases to his line.
However, his most recent finger injury may put a damper on the remainder of the year as the Rockies don’t expect it to heal and Gonzalez will be playing through pain until he can give the finger an extended rest.
Per the Denver Post:
Left fielder Carlos Gonzalez was not in the lineup for the second consecutive game as he nurses the sprained middle finger on his right hand. Weiss said CarGo has made some improvement, but added that the sore finger is something Gonzalez likely will have to deal with the rest of the season.
Outside of 2010 (which Gonzales may surpass), the Venezuelan born star is having the best statistical season of his career, so hopefully the injury doesn’t derail him too much.
