Houston Rockets expected to sign Marcus Camby

Prepared to hate the Houston Rockets? You might want to start as it appears Clutch City is becoming the new stop for aging veterans who want to chase rings.

According to Mark Berman of FOX 26 Sports, Camby and the Rockets are expected to agree on a contract later today:

NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports the Houston Rockets are expected to sign free agent center Marcus Camby today.

Camby, who played in Houston during the 2011-12 season has already met with Houston doctors and passed the Rockets physical, so it’s simply a matter of signing the actual contract at this point.

The former UMass big man grew up in Texas and wanted to play for a contender so what better destination than Houston?

It’s not expected that Camby will see much in terms of minutes, especially with Dwight Howard and Omer Asik manning the middle. Still, Camby expressed frustration in New York last season as a member of the Knicks, suggesting he wasn’t involved enough in the offense and wanted to play in a situation where he’d be more of a focal point (lol) which I’m doubting he’ll find in Houston.

Chase that ring.
