Following a trade between the Phoenix Suns and the Indiana Pacers, Luis Scola will be wearing a yellow uniform next season. There have been different opinions of just how much of a boost the 33-year-old forward can give the Pacers.
Some are suggesting that Scola is past his prime and won’t contribute that much, but he does bring in something the Pacers, who took the Miami Heat to game 7 last season, didn’t have last year. In essenece, Scola is a direct replacement for Tyler Hansbrough, and while he doesn’t offer as much energy on both ends of the floor, he is still an excellent offensive player.
Indiana had one of the worse benches in the league last year, which is something Scola will be able to help out with. He has some crafty post moves, runs the floor and can also knock down the mid-range jumper. He will take the pressure off David West, as Scola is still capable of playing big minutes without hurting the team that much.
Overall, Scola is a great pickup and with Danny Granger also returning to the lineup, the Pacers are looking scary for the 2013-14 NBA season.
