MLB trade rumors 2013: Philadelphia Phillies inform teams they are open for business

The Philadelphia Phillies front office has adamantly stated that they were not interested in becoming sellers at the upcoming Major League Baseball trade deadline but after dropping their seventh straight game yesterday, the writing was on the wall.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro has recently reached out to multiple teams informing them that a handful of players are available:

PHI has reached out to other teams to let other teams know that players are available, including Michael Young. Cliff Lee not on the list.

Not mentioned is Chase Utley, who may or may not be on the list. Both the Phillies and Utley were reportedly in talks about a contract discussion, but in the final year of his deal it’s possible the Phillies may trade their long time second baseman if they’re unable to come to terms.

Michael Young on the other hand is almost all but certain to be moved. The New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Young’s former team, the Texas Rangers, have all shown strong interest in the third baseman.
