Former Miami Heat guard Mike Miller chose to return to the Memphis Grizzlies organization. The two sides made the signing official at a press conference Tuesday in the FedEx Forum’s grand lobby. The franchise’s commitment to winning is what drew Miller back to the Grizzlies.

“The biggest thing for me was a commitment to winning,” said Miller, via the Memphis Commerical Appeal. “It’s exciting to be back here.”

The Heat waived Miller with the amnesty clause after back to back NBA championships. Mike Conley offered to pay for a year’s worth of free golf if he signed with Memphis. The Grizzlies front office is also excited to have him back.

“This is just a fantastic day to welcome Mike Miller back to Memphis,” Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien said. “Our plan (to get Miller) was the kitchen sink. What he did here in Memphis before still resonates in the community. And with his skill set, he’ll have a real impact on our team.”

“We’ve got a winner, a champion and a high, high character person,” Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said. “I’m ecstatic to have him with us. He’ll bring us the ability to stretch out the floor. To most teams, he’s a hired gun. For us, he’s a part of the fabric of this organization.”
