During Bud Norris‘ last start for the Houston Astros, fans gave him a standing ovation as he walked off the mound – potentially for the last time in orange and navy blue.
In a market desperate for starting pitching, Norris should command a pretty penny and today the Astros have announced they have scratched Bud Norris from his start against the Baltimore Orioles.
Per the Houston Astros Twitter:
RHP Lucas Harrell will start in place of RHP Bud Norris tonight in Baltimore.
There was no mention of an injury so it appears the writing is on the wall for Norris.
It should be noted – the former Cal Poly star has not been traded as of this moment, but the ‘Stros are in heavy discussions with a handful of teams and there was no need to risk any injury to Norris by starting him this evening.
Nearing the end of his arbitration window and given the Astros need to add more depth to their farm system, moving Norris is a no-brainer baseball move despite being one of the few faces of the Houston franchise the past half decade.
