The Los Angles Lakers had an incredibly optimistic and promising offseason last summer. They acquired Dwight Howard and Steve Nash in the same summer. Unfortunately none of that really quite materialized on the court and the experiment didn’t work out as they originally hoped for.
This summer they’ve watched the Lakers super team get dismantled. Metta World Peace is off to New York, Dwight Howard chose to sign with the Houston Rockets instead of the Lakers. That has people counting the Lakers next season.
Point guard Nash has heard that and he is alright with it.
“I think everyone’s kind of counting us out, which is fine by me,” Nash told Lang Whitaker of All Ball at NBA.com. “I think it’s good for us to fly under the radar a little bit. We’ve got a lot of new pieces, we’ve got guys coming off injuries, myself included. So we’ve got to find out where everyone’s health is, and then figure out each other and play together, and hopefully we can surprise some people.”
Any team with Kobe Bryant can’t ever truly be counted out. Nash also shared what it is like to work with him.
“I think people kind of know what he’s like. He’s very single-minded, he’s very prepared, very intense. You can feel it, you feel the intensity. I think that’s what people expect and that’s what he is.”
