Well it’s official, John Wall and the Washington Wizards have agree’d to a 5 year, $80 million contract extension this afternoon, reported by Michael Lee on Twitter.

The sides are expected to announce the deal at a press conference on Thursday, which was scheduled last week. Wall struggled through injuries in 2012-2013, but turned things around as he turned into a beast after the All-Star break.

He averaged 20.7 points, 4.5 boards, 7.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 31 games post-break. It’s obvious Wall belongs in Washington, that team does indeed belong to him. They don’t really look like a playoff team, or one that may reach the playoffs soon, so high draft picks for this squad will work to their advantage as more and more talent enters the league in each draft.

Wall looked like the star everyone expected when he was taken No. 1 overall in the 2010 draft. With Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter, this should be a fun and exciting team to watch this season.
