It looks like the Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Justin Maxwell from the Houston Astros just before the Major League Baseball trade deadline came to pass, according to multiple reports.
Ken Rosenthal, MLB Insider for FOX Sports, tweeted Wednesday afternoon: “Sources: Royals acquire OF Justin Maxwell from Astros.” (@Ken_Rosenthal)
With the Astros this season, Maxwell was hitting a .241 average, with only two home runs and eight RBIs in his 137 at bats. Last season, he hit .229 with eighteen home runs in 315 at bats for Houston. He has struggled with injuries which has majorly diminished his playing time.
With the addition of Maxwell in the outfield the Royals now have a solid defense player now that David Lough has started to cool down. He is predicted to play mostly against lefties in the beginning.
