Rumors swirled just a few days ago that the Atlanta Braves were showing heavy interest in Houston Astros starter Bud Norris, but according to Ken Rosenthal, not only are the Braves not interested in Norris – they never have been.
Per Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal:
#Braves are not on Bud Norris. Never have been.
What to believe?
Is it a smokescreen? Or was their perceived interest in Norris nothing more than manufactured rumors?
The Braves have not exactly been secretive about their desire to bring in a starter, especially after Tim Hudson was injured and Alex Wood has struggled. So it naturally made sense that Norris was an option, but assuming Rosenthal’s reports are true there was never much interest in the Astros ‘ace’.
Norris has been reportedly dangled to a handful of teams and had his start scratched yesterday afternoon as the Astros attempted to trade him.
It’s unlikely Norris, who has spent his entire career in Houston, will remain with the Astros past today’s MLB trade deadline.
