MLB trade deadline 2013: Baltimore Orioles in talks with Seattle Mariners for Michael Morse, Oliver Perez

The Baltimore Orioles are doing everything they can to improve for the upcoming stretch run and that includes attempting to acquire both Michael Morse and Oliver Perez from the Seattle Mariners.

Per Dan Connolly:

Orioles are actively pursuing both Mike Morse and Oliver Perez of the #Mariners today, accdg to a source. Would like a combo deal.

Morse is no stranger to the area as he played for the Washington Nationals for parts of four seasons before being sent to the Mariners last offseason. The slugger has struggled with injuries this season but is a routine .300-ish hitter with hefty power who would add significant thump to an already powerful Orioles lineup.

As for Oliver Perez, a one time high level prospect with the San Diego Padres has floundered though found a bit of a career resurgence as a relief arm.

With a constant low stock of left handed arms, Perez would certainly be a solid chip to acquire alongside of Morse.

There’s no word on what the Orioles would be sending back to the Mariners.
