The walk-off Cleveland Indians didn’t have to do what they have been doing in the last couple days, as Justin Masterson picked up the win over the White Sox.
Masterson held the White Sox to 1 run in 6 2/3 innings to earn his 13th win. He had an excellent outing, scattering 4 singles and 1 solo home run over 6 plus frames. Masterson struck out 7 batters as his record improves to 13-7 with an ERA of 3.33, 1.16 WHIP and 160/58 K/BB ratio in 156 2/3 innings this season.
His next outing is against the Detroit Tigers.
Ryan Raburn hit a pair of home runs, a 2 run shot to right field in the bottom of the 3rd and a solo to left in the bottom of the 7th. He also managed to squeeze an RBI single in the 5th. Raburn finished the afternoon, going 3-4 with 2 runs scored with his 4 RBI’s. The 32 year old outfielder has been productive in limited action this year.
Chris Sale, gave up 10 hits and 5 earned runs in 5 innings of work in the loss. Sale ran into a red-hot Indians offense and couldn’t handle it. The left handed pitcher struck out 6, did not issue a single walk but the Indians were still able to hammer him. Sale drops to 6-11 on the year, with an ERA of 2.92.
Alejandro De Aza hit his 13th home run of the season.
