Derrick Rose was cleared to play before the final few months of the NBA season, but he decided to sit out the rest of the year and receive plenty of scrutiny from fans and analysts throughout the sport. With plenty of time to recover after being medically cleared, Rose is a shoo-in to start the season for the Chicago Bulls, but he may even return to the line up much sooner.

According to the latest reports, Rose could return to the team for a preseason game on October 5.

From NBA.com:

"Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose could suit up for the first time in more than a year when the Chicago Bulls visit the Indiana Pacers for the preseason opener on Oct. 5.The preseason schedule released Thursday also has the Bulls playing Washington in Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 12 and hosting Detroit on Oct. 16. The regular-season schedule comes out Tuesday.Rose is expected to be ready after sitting out last season while recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. His status became an ongoing soap opera, with neither he nor the team publicly ruling out a return."

Fans will be thrilled to have Rose return to the line up.

Without Rose, the Bulls won 45 games, but they were bounced from the playoffs in the second-round when they ran in to the Miami Heat.
