Los Angeles Lakers invite Marcus Landry, brother of Carl Landry, to training camp

Marcus Landry, the brother of Sacramento Kings power forward Carl Landry has been trying to earn a roster spot in the NBA for a few years now.

Unfortunately, he’s never been able to secure that guaranteed contract outside of a few 10-day deals, but he’s apparently going to be given a chance with the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

Landry tweeted that he’s been invited to the Lakers training camp and has been given a small financial guarantee by the franchise.

Per Ramona Sheldburne:

Marcus Landry’s deal with the Lakers will have a small guarantee. More of a camp invite. But Lakers do like him

In short, the Lakers more or less gave Landry some dough so he’d accept their training camp offer over another team.

The Lakers struggled with their bench last season and didn’t do a whole lot to improve it, especially the back end so Landry could conceivably find himself on the Lakers opening night roster assuming things go his way.

Landry, an undrafted player out of Wisconsin played 17 games for the New York Knicks in 2009-10 and one game for the Boston Celtics in the same season.
