Hoping to keep the case from turning cold, Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. has put up a $100,000 reward in hopes information about his Mother’s 2012 abduction will be released.

As you’ll remember, Vi Ripken was taken out of her home at gunpoint last year but returned unharmed the following day. Few details were ever released about the situation and despite a sketch being released to the public, leads have been few and far between.

In the crime’s immediate aftermath, the Aberdeen Police Department released a sketch, photographs and a surveillance video that were believed to show the potential suspect.

But tips resulting from those have failed to bring to an arrest, prompting the Hall of Famer to announce the reward at a press conference just steps from his old home ballpark, Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Ripken has also teamed with former America’s Most Wanted host John Walsh to raise awareness:

Former “America’s Most Wanted” TV host John Walsh joined Ripken at the announcement, pledging his help.
