We have continuously heard that the suspensions to approximately 14 Major League Baseball players in relation to the Biogenesis scandal could be coming “in the next few days”, but now it looks like that time frame will be bumped to Monday.

From the National Post:

"Major League Baseball is prepared to issue two simultaneous announcements no later than Monday, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press on Thursday. One would list players who accept suspensions; the other would name those disciplined without deals, but who could challenge penalties before an arbitrator. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no statements were authorizeMost players face 50-game suspensions for their links to the now-closed Florida clinic, which has been accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs. But baseball is threatening to kick Rodriguez out for life unless the three-time AL MVP agrees to a long ban, perhaps around 200 games."

The MLB needs to get this scandal in the rear-view mirror, so the sooner the suspensions are handed down the better.

Of course, this will only be the beginning.

While many of the players will accept their suspensions and go on their merry way, the biggest name (Alex Rodriguez) is expected to fight any suspension to the death. It could get ugly, it’s not going to go away any time soon and it is just another black eye on the game of baseball.
