In other option news, the Boston Red Sox have sent right handed pitcher Pedro Beato down to Triple-A Pawtucket and recalled right handed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa from Pawtucket.
Beato has a decent 3.12 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in nine relief appearances this season for the Red Sox. He seen some work against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Bostons 6-7 loss. Beato gave up two hits and a home run with one strike out in just 1.1 inning pitched.
“This was Rubby’s fifth day. He was scheduled for a start, so we felt like we needed just to cover ourselves if we needed a guy that needed to go four or five innings. More out of just something unforeseen than anything, and an opportunity we’ve talked about trying to get him here and see him work out of the bullpen.” Sox manager John Farrell said in an interview
Rubby De La Rosa is looking at his second stint with the Red Sox this season, hoping to stick this time. He could provide relief in multiple innings if it is needed, which I’m sure he has no problem doing.
The 24 year old right handed pitcher registered a 4.23 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 74/42 K/BB ratio in 76 2/3 innings this season for Triple-A Pawtucket.
