NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kasey Kahne emerged victorious on Sunday in the GoBowling.com 400 at Pocono Raceway. After a caution flag was raised on lap 149 due to a wreck, Kahne out-dueled NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, his teammate for Hendrick Motorsports, over the last eight laps to secure the win.
Gordon spoke about the down-to-the-wire finish after the race:
It’s so funny how our emotions go up and down in this sport. Going into the race if you would have told me I could finish second I’d have said that was a great birthday gift. When your leading — take the lead away from Kasey the way we did on that restart, I thought we had him. He was better than us, but I thought out in front we could hold him off.
I got a perfect restart on that last one, probably jumped him a little bit. Got in front of him and looked like I needed to block the inside so I kind of protected the inside and he just blasted up there on the outside and flat outdrove me through one. (Yahoo! Sports)
The win was Kahne’s second on the season. You can check out the complete results here.
