While multiple teams have expressed interest in free agent point guards Mo Williams and Beno Udrih, it appears the Memphis Grizzlies may have the upper hand in retaining one of their services.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Grizzlies have exchanged contract numbers with both players:

No guarantee they get either one but word is Grizzlies remain in discussions with both Mo Williams & Beno Udrih to spruce up PG department

Williams has hinted his openness to sign with the Miami Heat, though, there has been no mutual public interest at this time so it’s difficult to imagine a better scenario for either guard. The Grizzlies should remain one of the premier teams in the league this coming season and despite playing a backup role to Mike Conley, there should be ample floor time for either.

The New York Knicks have also expressed interest in Udrih and Williams and it’s possible they could sign one of the two as well, though unlike Memphis, they only have the veteran’s minimum to offer.
