NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin blasts analyst Kyle Petty

Denny Hamlin did not take kindly to being criticized by television analyst Kyle Petty, lashing out and calling Petty “a moron” (among other things). This isn’t the first time a driver has had harsh words for Petty.

With Hamlin’s chances of qualifying for the Chase for the Sprint Cup hovering in the slim-to-none range — he’s currently 25th in points — Petty called the Joe Gibbs Racing driver “not relevant to the sport right now.”

A clearly displeased Hamlin responded:

Kyle has never showed his face in the garage in 10 years. He’s an analyst, but he’s not a very informed one. He doesn’t know anything.

My beef with Kyle is that he has a lot of opinions about a lot of drivers, but he’s never once talked to any of them. To be an analyst, you have to be in the trenches finding out the stories.

I got here on hard work and winning. I didn’t get here like he got here. (USA Today Sports)

Can’t we all just get along? Or, at least, can Kyle Petty please stop antagonizing drives?
