Entering a contract year, Pau Gasol should be a coveted free agent at season end. Still just 33 (and just 33), Gasol shouldn’t have any trouble landing a lucrative two or three year deal, but he’s hopeful it will come from the Los Angeles Lakers as he’d like to remain in Hollywood, if at all possible.
Per the Los Angeles Times:
The former All-Star will make $19.3 million in the final year on his contract with the Lakers.
“I would love to play for the franchise that I love playing for, that I’m proud to be a part of,” he said. “It would be great to continue to play for the Lakers.”
With an aging Kobe Bryant, who will also be a free agent at season end, the Los Angeles Lakers offseason should be one of the most entertaining in recent memory. Both Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James have scheduled out-clauses in their contracts and they could bolt for the iconic franchise who only has $10 million dollars (give or take) scheduled on the books for the 2014-15 season.
