San Diego Padres, Trevor Hoffman give New York Yankees Mariano Rivera a bike

In the midst of his farewell tour, New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera has been amassing quite the collection of gifts.

During every road trip where Rivera plays his final game in a city, the opposing team promptly sends Rivera off with a uniquely crafted present and the San Diego Padres are no different.

While Rivera has taken on the Padres before, it was his first (and final) trip to Petco Park where longtime Friars closer (and owner of the second most saves of all-time) Trevor Hoffman presented Mariano with a ‘beach cruiser’ bicycle so he could ‘live the San Diego lifestyle’ as he departs from the game he loves.

Certainly a cool moment, not only because of the gift, but neat to see Hoffman present Rivera the bike as it was Hoffman’s record which The Panama Express broke in 2011.

It may not compete with the Minnesota Twins broken bat chair or a 737 airline complete with your own likeness/autograph/logo, but it’s still pretty awesome.
