Junior Dion Bailey has played well at linebacker for the USC Trojans these past few years, recording 161 tackles and 6 interceptions in 24 career starts. After dropping ten pounds this off-season, however, Bailey will be moving from linebacker to safety.

Bailey, listed on the Jim Thorpe Award watch list, spoke about the transition to The Los Angeles Times:

I just have to get used to moving like a defensive back all the time. There’s a lot more action up close but I like being back deep. You can see everything, and everything is moving a lot slower so you can react better.

For those wanting a little more on the Trojans newest safety, here’s some fun tidbits: He loves oatmeal raisin cookies, which is an indefensible cookie to prefer over other cookies but we’ll let it slide; his favorite movie, fitting considering the team he plays for, is Troy; and his nickname growing up was “The Boogeyman” (beats “Doo Doo“).
