Atlanta Braves extend winning streak to 11 with help from Justin Upton

Justin Upton came into the eighth inning against the Washington Nationals Monday night, and had a go ahead home run, which propelled the team to a 3-2 win. Freddie Freeman also contributed much to the teams win, coming through with two RBIs, with two singles in both the third and fifth inning. The home run is Justin Upton’s 20th of the season.

With the winning streak now at 11, the Braves have a commanding 13.5 game lead in the division over the second place Nationals. From an article on ESPN,

As it is, Atlanta’s 12 1/2-game cushion entering the day was the largest margin through Aug. 4 in any division since 2005, when the Chicago White Sox led the AL Central by 14 games, according to STATS.
