San Francisco 49ers Patrick Willis will need hand surgery
By Bryan Rose
San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis has had a relatively healthy career, though, he has had lingering hand issues since his days at the University of Mississippi.
That lingering issue recently re-appeared as Willis suffered a broken hand last week and now according to Mike Sando of ESPN, will need to undergo hand surgery. Thankfully, the procedure is expected to be relatively minor and Willis will be sidelined for just a few weeks and it shouldn’t hamper his status for the season opener.
Per Sando:
"Hand surgery for 49ers LB Patrick Willis (@PatrickWillis52). Expected to miss only a few weeks, be back in plenty of time for reg season."
A five time All NFL 1st team award winner, Willis had 88 tackles and two interceptions during the 2012 season.
Willis’ injury is just one of many the 49ers have suffered during the offseason/training camp as they’ve also lost defensive back Chris Culliver and star wide receiver, Michael Crabtree.
