During the Seattle Mariners first series after the Major League All-Star break, infielder Kyle Seager experienced one of the most frightening moments any professional baseball can encounter – losing your bat in the stands.
Seager lost his grip on the bat, sending the piece of lumber flying through the air which struck a young fan in the process. Thankfully, the youthful spectator was unhurt, but it was a situation that could have turned scary.
Clearly shaken by the incident, Seager exchanged thumbs up with the boy, but the young fan wanted to make sure the Mariners third baseman didn’t dwell on the situation, so he decided to write him a letter:
Dear Mr. Seager,
My name is Lyle Raymond. Your bat landed on me. I am OK. Thanks for giving me the thumbs up when you were on first base. I like the Astros but will cheer you on too. I gave back your bat because you had a big hitting streak with that bat. I hope you have more hits with that bat.
Your fan, Lyle
Probably the best fan mail Kyle has ever received.
