Los Angeles Angels call up infielder Grant Green

While the Los Angeles Angels certainly had plans to eventually call up Grant Green after they acquired him from the Oakland Athletics, they probably didn’t expect to do so just weeks after trading for him.

Green, who had a cup of coffee with the Athletics earlier this season has mashed Triple-A level pitching but went 0-15 during his short stint in the big leagues with Oakland.

That resulted in him being sent back down and unexpectedly traded before the Major League Baseball trade deadline last month.

Now a member of the Angels, Green will be making his Southern California debut tonight after infielder Howie Kendrick left Monday’s game with a hyperextended knee.

Per Alden Gonzalez:

Kendick’s injury looked far more devastating during game action, though, tests after the game showed nothing more than a hyperextension so it’s unlikely Green will be up for more than a few days/week. Of course, he’ll certainly be back when rosters expand at the first of September.
